Data collection and structure determination in macromolecular crystallography

Teaching and learning methods:

The course includes both theoretical lectures given by international experts (see box) as well as practical exercises. Each day will cover a new topic, starting with 3-4 hours of lectures followed by a lunch break and a 4-hour afternoon session with practical computer exercises giving hands experience with the topics and methods described in the morning session.
The Summer School program includes an excursion to the Petra III synchrotron in Hamburg, where the students will get hands-on experience in X-ray crystallographic data collection at the beamlines P13 and P14.

The participants obtain 4 ECTS by active participation in the entire course.
The number of participants is 24 due to limitations during the Petra III site visit

The number of participants is limited to 24.

The course is open to PhD students and postdocs from the ØKS region. Applicants can come from academic institutions and private companies and should have a scientific focus on structural biology, a basic prior knowledge of crystallographic data collection, and be able to process data from a well diffracting single protein crystal.
